Here’s our handy guide to our photo scanning process. Just follow the steps below and hopefully all will go to plan with your order.

1. Get your photos ready for scanning.

Be sure to read our detailed information on preparing your photos, especially if you want the images to be saved in a particular order.
Remove all photos from albums and put them into envelopes or photo packets for each bundle that you would like saving in a folder of its own.
Important: make sure there are no staples, paper clips, photo corners, post-it notes etc attached to the pictures.
The smallest photo size we can scan is 63.5mm x 50mm (2.5in x 2in)
The largest photo size we can scan is 215mm x 863mm (8.5in x 34in)
Please note that our service is for photo scanning only. Negatives, slides and other media are not accepted.

2. Count your photos

To be able to process your order we need to know at least a rough estimate of how many photos you would like scanning.
As a guide, you can fit around 1,000 standard 6×4 photos in a shoebox. My own collection of 8,000 photos, split into envelopes each containing up to 200 pictures, filled six wine bottle boxes (boxes that hold 6 bottles of wine).

See our Prices page. If you know the exact number of images you can work out the total cost for your order.
If you only have a rough idea of how many photos you have then select one of our ‘Buy It Now bundles’ to cover the number of pictures you think you have.
Please note there are no hidden charges. The prices shown on our website include one DVD or USB memory stick containing your images – and you can purchase another copy for an additional charge as shown on the Prices page. The service also includes free collection and return delivery personally by us within 15 miles of Silsden (BD20 0AL). If the collection address is further away, please contact us in advance of placing an order and we will let you know whether we can fulfil your order and advise you of the additional charge.

If you are happy with the costs, please place your order in one of the following ways:

Select one of our Buy It Now bundles on the Prices page. The bundle will be added to your order and then you can pay straight away using PayPal.
If you know the exact number of photos you have for scanning, send us a message with the number as well as your contact details including collection address. We will email you back within a couple of hours, and send you a link to make your payment.
If you would prefer to pay by cash or BACS that’s not a problem. Send us a message with the number of photos you would like scanning along with your contact details and we will email back to confirm your order and tell you when we can collect your photos. Payment is due on collection on the photos from you.

We know how important your old photos are to you, so we don’t do posting or couriers. We’ll personally meet you to collect your photos and confirm your requirements in person.
We will arrange a mutually convenient time to collect your photos from you, either at your home or workplace – or any other public place suitable for you.
We will give you a clear indication of the likely timescales for scanning your photos. If you have any particular deadlines that you’d like us to meet then please make this clear at the time of ordering and we will do our best to meet them.

Scanning takes place in our home office using a bulk scanner, which can scan up to 50 images per minute.
Photos will be scanned at 600 DPI and saved as JPEG image files
We’ll rotate your images so that the JPEG files are the right way up
We’ll name your files sequentially (001.jpg, 002.jpg, 003.jpg etc) in the order they are scanned. If you’ve separated your photos into envelopes, we’ll create a separate file folder for each envelope and name it with the text you’ve written on the envelope.
All of your photos will then be saved to either a USB memory stick or a DVD.
Once your images are scanned we will confirm the exact number and contact you to let you know the final cost and whether any additional payment is required on collection if the final number of photos is more than the number you paid for. We will also arrange a time and location to meet you to return your photos to you and deliver your digital copies.

We will meet you at the agreed time and location to return your original photographs to you, along with your USB memory stick(s)/DVD(s).

You shouldn’t have any problems opening your JPEG images on your PC or Mac computer from the supplied USB memory stick or DVD, but if you do then we’re happy to help out either over the phone or by email.
